Don't hit the snooze button on your alarm clock if you want to be thinner and happier, scientists have claimed.$ \! ]* m! O+ k/ Z# ]4 Y% }5 J- t

Research suggests that early risers are slimmer, happier and healthier than those who get up later in the day. Late nights seems to take their toll on health and happiness.* ]$ ?( E G- p9 A
7 U2 \% N9 G8 z- \) c! _, nRoehampton University researchers quizzed almost 1,100 men and women about their health and sleeping habits.# c* L$ G9 t: `5 c( U
) o$ _8 `$ d6 h6 @
Some 13 percent of those questioned were larks, getting up before 7am during the week and seeing no need for a lie-in at the weekend.

% L$ k/ `7 u3 z" a& yNight owls, who fall out of bed just before 9am Monday to Friday and sleep in on Saturdays and Sundays, accounted for another 6 percent.

The analysis revealed the early risers to have fewest signs of depression and anxiety. They were also more likely to eat breakfast – something that has been linked with slimness. |
